The No. 5 New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets kicked off 2025 with yet another victory last Tuesday.
Taking on the Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter Imperials at Napoleon, the Rockets were looking to extend their undefeated streak after ending 2024 with a perfect 5-0 record, and they did so emphatically against the Imperials.
The Rockets started the game about as well as they could have hoped, scoring 23 points in the first eight minutes alone, while allowing just 10 points on defense.
Their dominant start set the tone for the game, and NR-S would continue to press their advantage throughout the evening.
By halftime they'd already opened a 25-point lead, and soon enough they were on the bus home having earned a 79-44 win.
Offensively the Rockets had several players reliably hitting their shots, but none more so than Bennett Meier, who had a game-high 18 points despite not playing much of the fourth quarter.
Other top scorers were Alex Weisenburger with 13 points, Easton Benz with 12, Thomas Allmaras with 11 and Easton Simon with 10.
Porter Granger scored six points, Kason Nass scored three, and Shaun Reimche, Layton Jacobson and Kailar Jacobson each scored a pair.
The Rockets had their next big test on Thursday, Jan. 9, in a game against the Carrington Cardinals, who moved up to Class A last year. That game will be covered in the next edition of the Transcript.
The Rockets' next game will be at home against St. John on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
