Stachler joins CREC

North Dakota State University's Carrington Research Extension Center (CREC) has gained an Extension cropping systems specialist.

Jeff Stachler, an NDSU Extension agent in Griggs County since September 2020, has joined the CREC to help clientele with agronomic issues.

Stachler began his new position Oct. 1, and says he has really enjoyed working with the staff members at the center in Carrington, North Dakota.

"This position is critical to the outreach mission of NDSU and Jeff brings a wealth of agronomic and Extension experience to this position," says Mike Ostlie, director of the center.

Stachler looks to improve the agronomy skills of NDSU Extension county agents throughout the state.

"I want to conduct research and deliver programs to answer important questions from farmers and agriculturalists, especially those in south central and southeastern parts of North Dakota," says Stachler.

Stachler welcomes questions from North Dakota farmers and agriculturalists, whichever part of the state they farm. He is knowledgeable in a variety of cropping systems topics.

He has worked at the county and state levels of Extension for Ohio State University and NDSU for over 22 years.

Stachler grew up on a hog, dairy and diversified crop farm in west central Ohio. He has a Ph.D. in weed science from OSU, where he also received his bachelor's degree in agronomy. He received his master's degree from Michigan State University.
