Becker offered NR-S superintendent position

During a special meeting of the New Rockford-Sheyenne School Board on Wednesday, Jan. 22, board members carried a motion to offer Natalie Becker a contract to be the district's superintendent for the 2025-26 school year.

Becker is currently serving as the district's interim superintendent, a position she took after Dr. Jill Louters' resignation last year and a subsequent superintendent search that didn't result in any new hires.

At the time, it was expected that NR-S would resume their superintendent search this January, giving them time to conduct a more thorough search for their new superintendent.

However, Becker told the board at their regular meeting in January that she'd like to drop her "interim" title and remain the district's superintendent moving forward.

The board seemed all but ready to move forward with Becker as well, and a few weeks later during the January 22 special meeting, the school board went into executive session – which is closed off to the public and to media – to discuss a contract.

Upon emerging from that discussion, they carried a motion to officially offer her the contract.

NR-S Business Manager Dave Skogen said contract negotiations are still ongoing, however, and as of press time Becker had not yet officially accepted the position.

The Transcript will update this article on our website, newrockfordtranscript.com, with any relevant updates regarding the NR-S superintendent position.

If she ultimately accepts, Becker will resign her long-held position as the district's elementary principal, and the board would embark on a new principal search.
