Legislative Report: Feb. 3, 2025

The 69th Legislative session is well under way. Taking on my new role as Speaker of the House has been quite an experience so far. One thing I have learned is how incredibly important all the staff are to make sure things run smoothly and efficiently.

The House introduced 620 bills this session, which is the most since 1991 and 76 more than last session. This will certainly add to the workload to be done within our limit of 80 days.

We are seeing a great variety of bills, from naming the State Vegetable (rhubarb) to the number one topic on most people's mind, which is property tax reform and relief. Your area legislators are working hard to make sure that our rural districts will be treated fairly, including our farmers and small business owners. As always, feel free to reach out by email to [email protected] with any questions or concerns you have.
