Two lucky people from the Sheyenne area had their name drawn for one of the 200 prizes at the 41st annual Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department Ice Fishing Tournament. Robin Smith won binoculars and DeShawn Lawrence won a $500 gas card. Saturday, Jan. 25, had a wicked cold wind from the north. It is a challenge to get tickets as they sell out fast.
Greg and Cindy Hegland and Patti Clifton were in Jamestown last Thursday. They enjoyed noon lunch at The Depot prior to Patti's medical appointment.
Patti Larson visited Marilynn Kruger last Friday afternoon while Stan was at a meeting.
A buffet table full of hotdishes, salads, sides and desserts was enjoyed by everyone after the Grace Lutheran worship service and before their annual meeting on Sunday.
Leonard from Yri Electric of New Rockford installed the retrofit LED lighting in the front part of Ostby Hall, replacing the old fluorescent fixtures that were no longer working properly. This project, in preparation for the Sheyenne Folk Fest art exhibition, is part of a N.D. Council on the Arts grant.
Mary Estrem, Steph Loe and Patti Larson met at Ostby Hall last Friday morning to plan the setup for the art exhibition and to check out the new lighting. While they were there, Connie Brown sent a text with pictures from her Sheyenne Art Show scrapbook she put together when she and Marilynn Kruger coordinated the annual art shows from 1987 into the late 1990s. It was held every Fourth of July for years with as many as 25 local artist exhibitions each year.
The Sheyenne community extends condolences to the Quentin Georgeson family with the passing of Delores Georgeson.
Jon Gilley visited with the Larsons on Sunday about his trip to Belgium and the Netherlands. The potato processing facilities and potato farming equipment were very specialized, efficient and interesting to see and the people couldn't be nicer.
Becket Ronald Buehler, son of Beau and Bria, was baptized last Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon. SOAM welcomes its newest member.
